This document contains DFE-650 Ethernet PC Card installation notes,
which is not included in the DFE-650 Ethernet PC Card USER'S GUIDE
or onscreen instructions, for NetWare Server V4.0 or later users.

1.0   Overview
--------------

    Please also refer to the INST_DOS.TXT file on the DFE-650 Installation
    disk.


2.0   Installation Notes
------------------------

  ******************************************************************
  * Notes: The PC Card should be enabled by Card service.          *
  *        Please run DFCD.EXE before starting the server.         *
  *                                                                *
  *        Content of CONFIG.SYS                                   *
  *        ---------------------                                   *
  *        Add below item to the CONFIG.SYS file                   *
  *                                                                *
  *        DEVICE=<PATH>\DFCD.EXE /iop=300 /irq=11                 *
  *        ; <PATH> is a directory include DFCD.EXE file .         *
  *        ; Please refer to the INST_DOS.TXT for details.         *

    2.1   First time installation from the installation menu
    --------------------------------------------------------

    (for NetWare Server V4.1 only, for other version see below)

        1. Proceed with the following steps:
           Start the NetWare Server.

           > CD \NWSERVER
           > SERVER

        2. Execute "LOAD INSTALL" after booting up by typing
           : LOAD INSTALL

        3. Select "Driver Options", -> "Configure network drivers", and
           -> "Select a driver."

        4. Press <Insert> key to install an unlisted driver.

        5. Please insert release driver diskette into the disk drive.

        6. Press <F3> to specify a different <PATH>. <PATH> is directory
           which includes both DFE650.LAN and DFE650.LDI

           Example: A:\NETWARE\32BITLAN

        7. Select "DFE650.LAN ....".

        8. Specify "Slot number". The "Slot number" usually conjugate
           with PC Card Socket Number.

        9. Select "Save parameters and load driver" after configuring the
           adapter setting.

       10. The NetWare server will be loading/binding the driver
           automatically.


    2.2   Reinstallation from the installation menu
    -----------------------------------------------
    (for NetWare 4.1x only, for other version see below)

        1. Proceed with the following steps:
           Start the NetWare Server.

           > CD \NWSERVER
           > SERVER

        2. Execute "LOAD INSTALL" after booting up by typing
           :LOAD INSTALL

        3. Select "Driver Options", -> "Configure network drivers", and
           -> "Select a driver".

        4. Select "DFE650.LAN ...." in Select a driver windows.

        5. Specify "Slot number". The "Slot number" usually conjugate
           with PC Card Socket Number.

        6. Select "Save parameters and load driver" after configuring
           the adapter setting.

        7. NetWare server will be loading/binding the driver
           automatically.


    2.3  Modifying an existing NetWare 4.x Server
    ---------------------------------------------

        1. Please insert release driver diskette into the disk drive.

        2. Copy LAN files into your DOS directory
           which will include the SERVER.EXE file.

           >COPY <PATH>\*.LAN C:\NWSERVER

           Example: >COPY A:\NETWARE\32BITLAN\*.LAN C:\NWSERVER

           <PATH> here is the directory where DFE650.LAN reside.

        3. Start the NetWare Server.

           > CD \NWSERVER
           > SERVER

        4. From the Novell Server side, execute "LOAD INSTALL" by typing
           :LOAD INSTALL
            Select <NCF files options>
            Select <Edit AUTOEXEC.NCF file>

        5. Add the item below into the server's AUTOEXEC.NCF file.

        LOAD C:\NWSERVER\NBI.NLM
        LOAD C:\NWSERVER\MSM.NLM
        LOAD C:\NWSERVER\ETHERTSM.NLM

        LOAD C:\NWSERVER\DFE650 SLOT=1 FRAME=Ethernet_802.3
             NAME=DFE650_1_E83
        BIND IPX DFE650_1_E83 NET=xxxx

        LOAD C:\NWSERVER\DFE650 SLOT=1 FRAME=Ethernet_802.2
             NAME=DFE650_1_E82
        BIND IPX DFE650_1_E82 NET=xxxx

        LOAD C:\NWSERVER\DFE650 SLOT=1 FRAME=Ethernet_II
             NAME=DFE650_1_EII
        BIND IPX DFE650_1_EII NET=xxxx

        LOAD C:\NWSERVER\DFE650 SLOT=1 FRAME=Ethernet_SNAP
             NAME=DFE650_1_ESP
        BIND IPX DFE650_1_ESP NET=xxxx

        6. Restart the server.

    3.0  Keywords supported by DFE650
    ----------------------------------

      TP              - This keyword specifies that the UTP port on the
                        adapter.

      TP_FULL_DUPLEX  - This keyword selects twisted pair connection to
                        work in full duplex mode.

      LINE_SPEED      - This keyword selects line speed between 10Mbps and
                        100Mbps on network cards.

                        Allowed values are: 10,100


