DI-701 Step 1: Connecting Cables
DI-701 Quick Starter Guide & Networking Basics

STEP 1: Connecting Local Cables

For a Single Computer:

Use the cross-over cable included in the box to connect the local port on the DI-701 to the Ethernet port on your computer. If you do not have an Ethernet port, you will need to install an Ethernet NIC like the D-Link DFE-530TX.

For an Ethernet/Fast Ethernet Network:

To connect to an Ethernet or Fast Ethernet network, simply connect the local port of the DI-701 to an uplink port on your hub or switch with the included cross-over cable. If the hub or switch does not have an uplink port, purchase a normal straight-through cable and connect to any port on the hub or switch. If you do not currently have a network, but do have multiple computers you would like to have share your broadband connection, you may want to purchase the D-Link DFE-910 Network In a Box .
