README.TXT NOTES ON MCS RSS VERSION R05.04.00 ================================== The MCS Radio Service Software is being updated to R05.04.00 This version is developed off the R05.00.00 release. Below is a summary of the various MCS RSS enhancements and MCS Radio feature support introduced in release R05.00.00 of the MOTOROLA MCS RSS. Most of the new features allow the programming of radio options. Therefore, the availability of these options depends on the capability of the particular MCS radio being programmed. Please consult the MCS RSS user manual for a detailed description of the respective features. MCS RSS R05.00.00 FEATURES: -------------------------- The following new features are available ONLY for MCS 2000 radios with Radio Software Version of R05.00 or greater: -Channel Select on a Button -DEK/Enhanced One Touch -Emergency Power Up -Full Spectrum Scan -Programmable Digit Keys -Radio Lock -Selectable PL (MPL) -Suspend All Scan -System Wide Call -VRM100 Data Priority -VRM100 Ignore Data Display MCS RSS R05.00.00 Enhancements: ------------------------------ -FLASHport Enhancement Location: CONFIGURE PATHS AND PORT Screen (MainMenu->F9->F3) Note: It is strongly recommended that the MCSBOOT.ENC file shipped with RSS version R05.00.00 or greater be selected for the 'Bootstrap Code Path & FileName'. -Memory/Speed Optimization Location: CONFIGURE PATHS AND PORT Screen (MainMenu->F9->F3) Note: If your computer has only 4 MBytes of RAM Memory (the minimum recommended amount), it is strongly recommended that Memory Optimization be enabled. If your computer has more available RAM Memory, Memory Optimization will allow you to successively unpack a larger number of codeplugs at the sacrifice of some speed at unpack time. KNOWN ISSUES WITH THIS RELEASE: ------------------------------ - When Cloning, the progress bar is displayed while the radio is being programmed. However, when programming is complete, the "Radio Successfully Programmed" status message is only displayed for a very short time. - For Other-Band Trunking (UHF, VHF) systems, it is possible to have more than 380 channels described on the Channel Assignment screen. It requires a relatively complicated process to get into this state, but it is possible. DISK CONTENTS: ============= The MCS RSS comes in one 3.5" Double Sided/High Density disks.
