1 About This Document

1.1 Purpose

The purpose of this document is to give an overview of the Ericsson SNMP Agent (ESA) library content.

This document is intended for all users of the ESA documentation library.

The following typographic conventions are used all through the documents in the ESA library.

Table 1 Typographic Conventions in the ESA documentation.
Convention	Description	Example
User Input	A command that you must enter in a Command Line Interface (CLI) exactly as written.	`cd $HOME`
Command Variables	Command variables, the values of which you must supply.	`<home_directory>`
GUI Objects	GUI objects, such as menus, fields, and buttons.	On the File menu, click Exit.
Key Combinations	Key combinations.	Press Ctrl+X to delete the selected value.⁽¹⁾
System Elements	Command and parameter names, program names, path names, URLs, and directory names	The files are located in `/usr/bin`.
Output Information	Text displayed by the system	`System awaiting input`

(1) The plus sign (+) indicates that you must press the keys simultaneously.

(2) The back slash (\) is used to show where long lines are split.

Note:: Please note that the representation of paths to directories and executables are generalized between platforms, where applicable. Hence, for example, the directory {esa basedir}/bin/ in Unix/Linux should be interpreted as {esa basedir}\bin\ in Windows. This is to minimize unnecessary text, and to emphasize similarities and differences.
