<<< VAXAXP::NOTES$:[NOTES$LIBRARY]VMSNOTES.NOTE;1 >>> -< VAX and Alpha VMS - Digital Internal Use Only >- ================================================================================ Note 237.4 memory-resident sections: new for OpenVMS Alpha V7.1 4 of 4 EVMS::GRANT 21 lines 24-FEB-1997 10:12 -< further feedback welcomed >- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We hope 'better late than never' applies here. We had been trying to get this work into the development schedule for a number of years. You might be interested in knowing that we recently did testing on both a 16GB system and a 28GB system. In both cases nearly all the available memory was defined as a section for a database cache. We've pushed the limits as much as we could on our own and we also worked with a major database vendor during design, development, and testing. What we did for 7.1 may not be as general and some might like; it was directed at a very specific set of requests collected over time. If you find shortcomings, don't hesitate to let us know. If it is not confidential, we'd be interested in knowing how your customer puts memory resident sections to use. Clair Grant VMS Exec Group Project Leader
