1 ADD Add a new account, or recover an expired account. You will be asked to confirm (or alter) the logon name, budget, college, department, course, section, category, connect time, cpu, disk quota, and retention values. Alterations are performed under the control of the editor chosen when starting CDFEDIT. The values are altered accordingly upon terminating the editor. If no accounts are to be added, abort the editing session instead. The account name can be up to 8 alpha-numeric characters ( 9 for social-security numbers). Format: ADD account-name Notes: Typing Z in response to a prompt will cancel the operation and return you to the CDFEDIT> prompt. Once an account is ADDed, priv- ileges can still be modified with the MODIFY command. 2 Errors If an error is detected during the modification session, a "diagnostic" message will be displayed, and the offending line will be marked in the left-most column with a ">" character. You will then be placed back in the editor. You can then either correct the error or abort the editing session altogether. 2 Parameters You can specify either a single account name, a list of account names separated by commas or the name of a file containing a list of account names entered one per line. Format: ADD account-name [,...] ADD @file-spec 2 Qualifiers /DEVICE Specifies the device name for which the account's home directory will reside. Validity of the target device is not performed, so make sure it can support users before choosing said device. Format: /DEVICE=device-name[:] If the device-name is not specified, one will be chosen at random. /GROUP Specifies the UIC group for the account. A free member of this group will be chosen at random to complete the UIC assignment. Format: /GROUP=octal-group The octal-group is entered as an *octal* value. It is recommend- ed to use passwords which are not found in dictionaries and have some arbitrary misspellings or numeric substitutions. Format: /PASSWORD=password If the password is not specified, one will be generated at random. 1 BUDGET Change the budgets of all accounts matching the old budget number with the new number.
