I've got a VXT2000 sitting above my desk gathering dust. The only
problem with it is that I have no mouse. Would it happen to be
compatible with a PS/2 type mouse, or is it something different? If it
is different, anyone have an idea where I might find one?

It'd be nice to get a mouse for it (otherwise it will probably go to the
dump soon).

It is something different. DEC used RS-232 mice, but a different
protocol than Microsoft, Logitech, et. al.

Product codes are VSXXX-AA and VSXXX-GA originally from Hawley, later
from Logitech:
http://www.oldmouse.com/articles/hawley/index.shtml
only available now from surplus equipment dealers:

http://www2.keyways.com/inv/02/51527680.html

There is a fair amount of documentation on the web about these mice
from BSD and Linux ports to these VAXen, including pointers in the
OpenVMS FAQ 14.18 last paragraph
http://h71000.www7.hp.com/faq/vmsfaq_024.html#supp4
"VCB02 Video Subsystem Technical Manual (EK-104AA-TM). The keyboard
wiring and protocol is in appendix B, and occupies circa 44 pages. The
mouse is in appendix C, circa 12 pages." available via link from
