Inst Selection Files
Selections files are a convenient way to load a bundle of software and
all of its prerequisite packages. The selections files available today
are:
You may also find the inst-get script useful.
It will attempt to download (using
wget)
all the prerequisite freeware packages required for a given install.
If you have a fast, reliable network connection you can install
directly over network. Run
"inst -f http://freeware.sgi.com/Inst/" and try a sequence
like this to minimize conflicts:
keep *
install upgrades
install (the package you want)
install prereqs
Finally there are
graphical
and text
files showing the current freeware prereqs, as well as an online
prereq calculator.
