SASL (Simple Authentication Security Layer) is an Internet standards-track method for remote computers to authenticate. The Cyrus SASL library makes supporting various SASL mechanisms easy for both client and server writers.

Cyrus SASLv2 is completely incompatible with applications that use Cyrus SASLv1. If you are upgrading see the Cyrus SASL home page, as well as the on-line documentation installed in /usr/freeware/share/doc/cyrus-sasl2/

Developers intending to use this distribution for application development should be sure to read the information in FAQ 3.8.
