GConf-1.0.9: description + notes

GConf is the GNOME Configuration database system, and is similar in functionality to the Windows registry. http://developer.gnome.org/feature/archive/ has a very old introductory article, but it is mostly still valid.

GConf requires fw_glib, fw_ORBit, fw_libxml, and the fw_popt, option parsing library. XML will be optional in the future if someone writes another storage backend.
