Prepare the Windows system by executing the following steps:

1. install JRE 1.6.0

2. disable auto updating for JRE (Windows Control Panel -> Java -> Update)
   --> Uncheck (clear) the box: Check for updates automatically

3. download Setup_File.zip

4. unzip Setup_File: 2 files, HTTPClient.jar and .Java.policy

5. copy .Java.policy to your home directory C:\Documents and Settings\<login name>

6. copy HTTPClient.jar to the directory C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_xx (or ..\jre6)\lib\ext\

7. go to Control Panel -> Java -> Select General -> Temporary Internet Files -> Settings...
   - de-select (uncheck the checkbox) 'Keep temporary files on my computer'
   - click 'Delete Files...'



--> for Initial Setup the firmware must be available in directory 'C:\diskarray-microprogram\' (= default directory)

--> for Initial Setup the firmware must be available in unzipped format

--> if the OS is not installed on the C: disk, .Java.policy has to be modifed, see separate PPT
